Hi all Thanks again for all the comments on the recommended actions Google Doc. Mary and I are reviewing each of these and responding with our thoughts; but I wanted to respond here specifically regarding accessibility metadata for learning. We’ve had a few comments by email and in the Google Doc that relate to the role of metadata in accessible online learning materials, the relationship of W3C accessibility guidelines to specifications like ISO 24751/AccessForAll, and the potential role of the AccessLearn CG in work in this area. The primary focus of this phase of AccessLearn's work has been to identify recommendations for new content on the WAI web site that meets the information needs of people working with online learning. But accessibility metadata, the current state of metadata standards and their relationship to W3C, seems to be a big enough topic that we should discuss as a group what sort of work people are interested in doing, how it might support other work in progress or planned. We also need to talk to other WAI groups about what’s currently happening and where we can best contribute. Accessibility metadata for learning is of the things Mary and I will ask about in our next meeting with EOWG where we report on AccessLearn updates, scheduled for August 15th. After that we’ll report back to the group on what’s going on at W3C and WAI in this area, and where we might be able to contribute. Thanks!
