Hi HTTPBIS, As we discussed in yesterday(?)'s meeting, I've changed the text of "connect-tcp" to forbid Proxy-Status trailers instead of allowing them. In draft-11, the sentence in question now reads: > Clients and proxies MUST NOT send trailer fields on "connect-tcp" streams. I avoided commentary on whether this is forbidden by RFC 9113 and RFC 9114, because it's not clear to me whether those requirements apply. (They are arguably limited to non-Extended CONNECT.) It is logical enough to forbid it here narrowly, even if it could be permitted. (For example, forbidding trailers here makes "connect-tcp" more consistent across HTTP versions.) I am not aware of any remaining issues that need to be addressed in this draft. --Ben Schwartz ________________________________ From: internet-drafts@ietf.org <internet-drafts@ietf.org> Sent: Friday, March 20, 2026 4:16 PM To: i-d-announce@ietf.org <i-d-announce@ietf.org> Cc: ietf-http-wg@w3.org <ietf-http-wg@w3.org> Subject: I-D Action: draft-ietf-httpbis-connect-tcp-11.txt Internet-Draft draft-ietf-httpbis-connect-tcp-11.txt is now available. It is a work item of the HTTP (HTTPBIS) WG of the IETF. Title: Template-Driven HTTP CONNECT Proxying for TCP Author: Benjamin M. Schwartz Name: draft-ietf-httpbis-connect-tcp-11.txt Pages: 17 Dates: 2026-03-20 Abstract: TCP proxying using HTTP CONNECT has long been part of the core HTTP specification. However, this proxying functionality has several important deficiencies in modern HTTP environments. This specification defines an alternative HTTP proxy service configuration for TCP connections. This configuration is described by a URI Template, similar to the CONNECT-UDP and CONNECT-IP protocols.
