Dear HTTPAPI WG (and HTTPWG), I am proposing HTTP Events Query as a specification for transferring event notifications over HTTP, leveraging the (about to be standardized) QUERY method. It is in the same spirit as the Per Resource Events I-D that I had presented at the HTTPbis session during IETF 118 in Prague. With the availability of the QUERY method, this specification does away with the need to modify the semantics of GET response to transfer notifications. With no changes to HTTP required, I am targeting this I-D at HTTPAPI instead. To see how this specification might be implemented, please also look at the companion "Events Query with Linked Data" specification at <https://cxres.github.io/eq-ld/protocol/>. To the HTTPAPI Chairs, I kindly request you to let me introduce this I-D during the HTTPAPI session in IETF 123. Looking forward to your feedback, Best Regards, Rahul ------- Forwarded Message ------- From: internet-drafts@ietf.org <internet-drafts@ietf.org> Date: On Friday, July 4th, 2025 at 6:46 PM Subject: New Version Notification for draft-gupta-httpapi-events-query-00.txt To: Rahul Gupta <cxres+ietf@protonmail.com> > A new version of Internet-Draft draft-gupta-httpapi-events-query-00.txt has > been successfully submitted by Rahul Gupta and posted to the > IETF repository. > > Name: draft-gupta-httpapi-events-query > Revision: 00 > Title: HTTP Events Query > Date: 2025-07-04 > Group: Individual Submission > Pages: 25 > URL: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-gupta-httpapi-events-query-00.txt > Status: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-gupta-httpapi-events-query/ > HTML: https://www.ietf.org/archive/id/draft-gupta-httpapi-events-query-00.html > HTMLized: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-gupta-httpapi-events-query > > > Abstract: > > Events Query is a minimal protocol built on top of HTTP that allows > user agents to receive event notifications directly from any resource > of interest.
