The HTTP/1.1 draft is in. (as well as the authentication draft). These should issue in the next day or two. In the meanwhile, you can get a (text only, this instant; the other versions (Word, Postscript) to follow in the next day or two) copy of the spec from: http://www.w3.org/Protocols/HTTP/1.1/draft-ietf-http-v11-spec-rev-05.txt I think you'll find the plaintext version much cleaner this revision than previous revisions. - Jim Gettys From: jg@w3.org Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 15:51:19 -0400 To: internet-drafts@ietf.org Cc: masinter@parc.xerox.com, jg@pa.dec.com Subject: (Re) submission of draft-ietf-http-v11-spec-rev-05.txt Cynthia: this is the correct document to publish. Sorry for the snafu; last minute editing hangup. Please notify the http working group (http-wg@hplb.hpl.hp.com). The postscript version will be in a subsequent message. - Jim Gettys HTTP/1.1 editor, on behalf of the HTTP working group Abstract The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is an application-level protocol for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia information systems. It is a generic, stateless, protocol which can be used for many tasks beyond its use for hypertext, such as name servers and distributed object management systems, through extension of its request methods, error codes and headers [47]. A feature of HTTP is the typing and negotiation of data representation, allowing systems to be built independently of the data being transferred. HTTP has been in use by the World-Wide Web global information initiative since 1990. This specification defines the protocol referred to as "HTTP/1.1", and is an update to RFC 2068 [33]. At the time of submission, there were no known outstanding issues with this document. The HTTP/1.1 issues list can be found at http://www.w3.org/Protocols/HTTP/Issues/. Linked from this page are also Postscript and Microsoft Word versions (with versions with change bars) of this document which are easier to review than this text document.
