My answer is that there is no need to recognize such an attribute now. As you noted, have an extension mechanism which allows us to recognize such attibutes later if we find that we really need them. I cannot imagine how a failure to define 'transient' now would lead to the development of nasty ad-hoc techniques. >GK. Koen.
