Subject: draft-ietf-deltav-versioning-07 now available

This new draft of the protocol contains all changes agreed upon at the
recent working group meeting at Pittsburgh (enumerated in the meeting
notes posted to this mailing list a few days ago). Since no sustantive
changes were made to either core or advanced versioning at this
working group meeting, I am very hopeful that we are getting close
to "Last Call"!
One of the decisions was to move the notion of a "version history" to
core versioning, and then to unify/simplify the terminology. After
numerous variants, I decided to try the following terminology for 07:
When a "versionable resource" is put under version control with the
VERSION-CONTROL method, a new "version history" is created at a server
defined location, and the versionable resource is replaced by a
"version selector" whose target is a "version" from the new version
history.
Analogous terminology is used to talk about baselines, namely:
The BASELINE-CONTROL method can be applied to a collection to place
it under baseline control. A "baseline selector" selects a "baseline"
from a "baseline history".
Note: I'll be on vacation for two weeks starting this Saturday,
so expect a delay in my responding to comments on the 07 draft.
Cheers,
Geoff
