    The goals you are trying to address is what we tried to solve in Concorde.
    Concorde is an open source system (written in Java) that you can get from
    www.digitaldig.com. Currently, the semi-structured documents are assumed to
    be directories with files representing the unstructured part. But, the
    system is designed to support any other kind of semi-structured document.
    Since you will have access to source code, you will be able to extend it to
    support the semi-structured document that you have in mind in a month or
    two.
