Re: Proposal for additional Aliases to IANA registry of character sets

Almost all of these proposed aliases are unnecessary if there is a recommendation to match names as proposed before: Ignoring dashes and underscores.
Note that a lot of software already does this, see recent discussion here.
As far as I know about the converter in IBM DB2 XML, it already ignores dashes and underscores in addition to case.

All of these new aliases are unnecessary if name matchers also ignore leading zero digits (IBM037 vs. IBM-37), but it may be safer to add these zero-removing aliases anyway.

Then again, other than expanding the list, these aliases do not really hurt.
