Yesterday, RFC 1641 (Using Unicode with MIME) and RFC 1642 (UTF-7: A Mail-Safe Transformation Format of Unicode) were published, and the character set names unicode-1-1 and unicode-1-1-utf-7 were registered with IANA for use with MIME (please note the change in the charset name for UTF-7 from the Internet Draft stage). Both RFCs were published in the Experimental category, and do not constitute Internet Standards. The information generated from actual use of these two character sets will be used as input to possible future Internet standardization of usage of Unicode and/or ISO/IEC 10646. Thanks to everyone whose comments, feedback, and advice made this possible. ---------------------------- David Goldsmith david_goldsmith@taligent.com Taligent, Inc. 10201 N.
