Can people please address the issue of whether there is any technical reason to choose one 'vary' proposal over another? I have asked the proponents of the two proposals (Daniel DuBois and David Robinson) that I knew about to try to come up with a concise written description of how they differ. Anyone else pushing a different proposal (such as the one from the Conneg subgroup?) ought to do the same. If you are pushing a proposal of this sort, please don't try to argue that "it's not my job to compare and contrast it with the competition." Those of us who don't really understand the issues (myself included) are going to need some guidance in order to reach consensus, and any proposal that is not sufficiently described won't get much support. In other words, if you don't describe the differences between your proposal and the others, the competition will describe them and not in your favor! Thanks -Jeff P.S.: These are the ones that I know about: http://www.organic.com/public/conneg/mail/0087.html ><URL:http://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/%7Edrtr/vary-header-01.ps> - PostScript ><URL:http://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/%7Edrtr/vary-header-01.txt> - Plain text ><URL:http://www.ast.cam.ac.uk/%7Edrtr/vary-header-01.html> - HTML http://weeble.lut.ac.uk/lists/http-caching/0114.html
