Meeting location & how to get there

The meeting will be held at Digital's Western Research Lab (WRL).
Full information about how to get here by car, including a nice
map of downtown Palo Alto, is available from:

	http://www.research.digital.com/wrl/admin/location.html

Note that (for reasons I don't understand) the map fails to show
the parking garage under our building, although it shows all of
the other public parking in the area.

For those of you who think you don't need a map, our address is
	250 University Avenue
	Palo Alto, California 94301 USA
Telephone (415) 617-3300 [receptionist, not conference room]
However, there is no entrance to our lab anywhere on University
avenue, so you should probably still retrieve the "Text directions
to WRL" link to figure out how to get here!

** IMPORTANT: you MUST follow the parking instructions to be found via
** the "Text directions to WRL" link, or you will probably end up with
** an expensive parking ticket!!!

If you are planning to fly to San Francisco (SFO) or San Jose (SJC)
and do not want to rent a car, the most convenient way to get here
is to take the "Super Shuttle" van service. I'd allow at least an
hour (maybe a little longer); it costs under $25/person and requires
no reservations at the airport. For your return trip from here
to the airport, you will need to call in advance for a pickup, though.
You could save some money by taking the "7F" bus, but at the cost
of a longer trip.

If you want to make hotel reservations within walking distance of
WRL, please let me know. There are several decent hotels within
a few blocks; there is also a very expensive hotel, a few nice
B&Bs, and a number of fleabag places you should avoid. Digital
has a discount arrangement with several of the decent places,
and you can probably take advantage of that.

For those of you commuting from someplace nearby, we have some
room for you to park a bicycle safely. And we are about 5 minutes
(on foot) from the Palo Alto CalTrain station and the co-located
bus depot. See
	http://server.berkeley.edu/Transit/index.html
for schedules and fares.

It would certainly be practical to stay in San Francisco and take
the train, especially if you intend to be a tourist over the weekend.
