On Monday, I threatened to run this subgroup if nobody else volunteered. It seemed for a while like Ari Luotonen might have done so at IETF, but he tells me that he "actually be much more comfortable if you did that." Looks like I'm stuck with it. Anyway, I've set up a mailing list, and will start soliciting additional volunteers from the HTTP-WG mailing list. The mailing list is "http-caching@pa.dec.com". Requests for changes to the mailing list should be sent to "http-caching-request@pa.dec.com". (Note: I spell the word "caching", not "cacheing", after having carefully researched the issue many years ago. Mail to "http-cacheing" will bounce!) The initial list membership is: mogul@pa.dec.com (Jeff Mogul) fielding@avron.ICS.UCI.EDU (Roy T. Fielding) luotonen@netscape.com (Ari Luotonen) dwm@shell.portal.com (David W. Morris) jg@w3.org (Jim Gettys) sjk@amazon.com (Shel Kaphan) szilles@mv.us.adobe.com (Steve Zilles) masinter@parc.xerox.com (Larry Masinter) Larry got added because he sent a message to the HTTP-WG list titled "rethinking caching", so he must care about this topic. -Jeff
