indenting a paragraph from Virginia Grieco on 2003-05-20 (html-tidy@w3.org from April to June 2003)

Help!  

I cannot seem to get my paragraphs to indent.  

Even using <spacer type=horizontal size=50> 

which I found in my html & xhtml guide book, 4th edition.

Can anyone tell me how to implement this function?  I use a pc and a Windows
98 OS.
