[en] Captions/Subtitles

I read your website regarding captions, but was hoping for a bit more in-depth data on emergency presentations that utilize auto-captions.

1. I am trying to find statistics on accuracy of auto-generated captions (mainly Facebook Live or other social media outlets)
2. I am trying to make a point that auto-captions are not the best resource for emergency situations

I live in Hawaii, specifically Big Island (Hawaii island). We have had volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis and hurricane warnings this past year and when there are emergency announcements, they typically come on Facebook Live. We would prefer the mayor utilize the ASL interpreters they have access to so we can be fully aware. Auto-captions are difficult enough with the inaccuracies of general spoken language, but adding to our situation, not only dos the auto-caption system have to account for accents, but also Hawaiian words/place names and pidgin language that is prevalent in Hawaii everyday speak.

Research seems to be a bit limited, or I’m just not that great at it, but I am trying and would appreciate any guidance as I attempt to plead my case in August.
