I don't expect to achieve consensus on this but I don't think it is acceptable for a W3C working group to define a binding at odds with the most fundamental axiom of web architecture and then say: "somebody else can clean up the mess." But now we're talking philosophy and politics so I don't expect to have anything more to contribute. GET is the most important of the Web "methods".
