I would add this note in Bugzilla, but the Bugzilla software appears not to be responding. The relevant text was introduced in the proposal for bug 1889; I've now confirmed that the tests we made on the grammar at that time have charClassEsc in the production, not charClassExpr. So I agree with Dave Peterson's analysis.
