Re: Restriction on "AnyValidXML"

There is an open issue on this question [1] (see also the thread
starting at [2]).  I believe your example is valid, and some
validators agree, but others do not, and this is evidence that the
REC is unclear in this area.  At some point the W3C XML Schema WG will
rule on the issue, probably issuing a correction/clarification.  It is
also likely that version 1.1 of the XML Schema REC will also resolve
the uncertainty in your favour.
