[Definition:] A datatype whose values are not ·numeric· is said to be non-numeric. The first definition defines whether a _datatype_ is numeric. The second refers to whether the _values_ of a datatype are numeric, which has not been defined. The second definition probably should refer to whether the datatype is numeric.
