Dennis:
This is in reply to your comments on the XML Schema requirements document
sent on 26 February.  I apologize for this late response.  This is no excuse but
we have been busy with design issues and, you will be glad to know, the work
is going well.

You raised three specific points in your note:

1)   Need to be able to inherit parts of definitions.
The mention of inheritance in the requirements document was not specific and,
in fact, we have considered many possible variations during the design
deliberations.
Its too early to tell how we will come out on the inheritance issue.

2) Alternate functionality for parameter entities.
Many people have asked for this and the design team is very aware of this
requirement.

3) Backwards compatibility.
I read your comment as asking for an algorithm to map from a schema to a DTD.
This is a tools issue.  Doubtlessly, many vendors will provide such tools as
soon
as a stable schema language surfaces.
