W3C is pleased to announce the creation of the Web Services
Activity. The new Activity home page is:

The primary mission of the Web Services Activity is to develop a
set of technologies in order to bring Web services to their full
potential. The Web Services Activity statement provides a general
overview of the Activity:

The structure of the new Activity includes:

   - a Web Services Architecture Working Group
     Charter: http://www.w3.org/2002/01/ws-arch-charter

   - a Web Services Description Working Group
     Charter: http://www.w3.org/2002/01/ws-desc-charter

   - the existing XML Protocol Working Group
     Charter: http://www.w3.org/2000/09/XML-Protocol-Charter

   - a Web Services Coordination Group
     Charter: http://www.w3.org/2001/12/ws-cg-charter

The new Working Groups in the Web Services Activity build on the
public commitments established by the XML Protocol Working Group. Part
of XML Protocol's success is thanks to the considerable public review
and comments. W3C hopes that this constructive conversation between
W3C Working Groups and the developer community at large continues. We
look forward to moving forward together.

Best regards,

Hugo Haas
Web Services Activity Lead
