The Feb 2002 issue of Physics Today (published by the American Institute of
Physics) has an interesting article titled "The Grid: A New Infrastructure
for 21st Century Science". The discussion of "grid architecture" and the
special problems involved with authentication, authorization and policy
might be directly relevant to what we are doing. They cite something called
the "Open Grid Services Architecture" as an attempt to integrate grid
technologies and web services.

The article is at http://www.physicstoday.org/vol-55/iss-2/p42.html. The
discussion of the "Open Grid Services Architecture" is on a separate page
called "box 3",
