The "face" attribute seems not valid for <font> markup in HTML 3.2
(http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html32)

For a page containing <font size="1" face=Arial>, this message is given by the validator :
"
Attribute "FACE" is not a valid attribute. Did you mean "face"?
<font size="1" face=Arial>
[...]
"

This message isn't really useful and seems to say that "FACE" is incorrect and that "face"
   is correct. It doesn't indicate that "face" is forbidden.
