It's worked in browsers for a very long time. I might remember the name wrong, 
my HTML/JS hackery being quite far away but I clearly remember some projects 
using it notably an app that calculated the optimal cell phone plan for a given 
usage pattern with weird constraints, one of them being that the admin at that 
large cell phone operator thought back then that "running code on a web server 
is madness, no one should do it".
