Large Scale Ontologies

Hi,

I am a student at the University of Kent at Canterbury, in the UK. I have recently been introduced to the 
concept of Semantic Web and RDF. I am currently researching a large scale ontology (using RDF). Have any 
businesses started using RDF? Sorry, if this question seems out of place, but I am new to this list.
