SKiCal spec.

Hi!

For those of you interested in calendars for public events (Concerts,
theatre plays, sports games, religiuos meetings, exhibitions...) there
is a new version of the SKiCal specification (which is an iCalendar
profile) available at

http://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-many-ical-ski-06.txt

Public events, of which there can be thousands every day, have a set of
characteristics not shared by office meetings, which is the primary
focus of iCalendar. For one thing, ordinary calendaring software give
the options of "day view", "week view" and "month view". None of these
views are usually good for displaying all the public events of a city.
Another important aspect of public events is price information.
iCalendar has no property for describing the price. SKiCal adds to
iCalendar a price property, and a number of other important properties
needed to handle public events efficiently.

SKiCal, although only an Internet Draft, has been in use since 1999 in
Sweden. I hope that any new developments - within the RDF community for
example - will re-use the experience as well as semantics from the
SKiCal project.

/Pär
