field of use problems

As someone that uses GNU-based systems almost exclusively, I must say
I'm agast that you might consider allowing them to be excluded from
future standards.  Doing so seems to go against the fundamental goal
of a standard, by only allowing it to be used by a few controlling
companies, and the loss to the general public and those who wish to
support it.
