w3c accepting patented technology as standards

The Internet has always been great because it has always been free. Using
patented technology as a "standard" would remove the sole feature that made
the internet important and transform it into a dull tool used by businesses
to increase their market shares.

There are two possible roads for the w3c to take -- the path towards a more
connected world, or the path toward the flagrant overcommercialism plaguing
the modern world. I beg of you to make the right decision.
