Royalty-bound patents in web standards

  Dear W3C:

"Standards" that require paying a patent license fee are not standards
at all.

Please do not allow the inclusion of a patented technology into a WWW
standard. This would play into the hands of the multinational
corporations that wish to convert the WWW from a consumer-driven
experience into just another Tee Vee or radio, where only approved
content is broadcast from some central location.

Sincerely,
Bruce Ediger
