Comment on Patent Policy

It is obvious that the proposed measures will permit commercial
interests to control the development of the Web, and that this control
will shortly lead to its demise as a free and universal medium.  The
technologies these companies offer are not indispensable to the
continued functioning of the Web.  It will survive and grow until these
technologies are obtained under conditions consistent with the Web's
original purpose and promise.
