This is a BAD IDEA.

Not only will W3C's patent policy generate tremendous legal expense and ill will, patent applications will result in the use of alternative source and development of new source for replacement of patented code.

The WEB is a global network. I urge you to work to keep it that way by following the W3C Charter and Member agreements.
