Hello, One of the biggest dangers to freedom is our mis-used patent process. At the point that individuals and companies can patent life itself something is clearly amiss. We have an opportunity (albeit a rapidly diminishing one) to set a different course on the web. Already the web is being crushed by patents and "convergence". The advent of free and open software (as well as standards) is a positive thing for our species. I strongly urge the W3C to rethink their patent policy and ensure that web standards remain free, open, and un-patentable. Thank you!
