To software patents. Inclusion of software patents or patents or copywrites of any kind in any kind of standard, almost by definition make that standard proprietary, as the "law" ends up being "owned" by someone other than the public at large. This tips the scales pretty unfairly. It matters not at all how liberal any party claims to be about how "open" their copywrite or patent is, if they own it, they control it. The world wide web is supposed to be open, lets keep it that way, and toss a stumbling block in front of the large, predominately U.S. companies that seem to think they own they own the internet and all that entails.
