Hi W3c. After I read your proposal for patented webcontent I started to think. What would have happend with the world wide web if it started out as a patented ruled media? It surely would not be such a mayor impact as it is today .. I also wonder what will happen with the old applications that almost everything on the web builds/derives on .. And what about the TCP/IP protocol? Can anyone just go in and patent it? Have we learned nothing from the pharmasuitical business where they are able to create patents on genes that we all have in our bodies? It lead to that for instance breastcancer research must pay enourmous money to the company owning both the breastcancer genes .. I can see a simular development on the web and it's tools since the web until this day has been a open media which creates a genuine feeling with people that we all are a part of it. Sure, maybe none of the mayor companies wish to develop if they know that their rivals can use their code after they've released it .. But many of the breakthroughs have been created by people with just an image and the help of others .. Anyway .. This is my way of saying that I'm not for patents on the web since it will lead to the death of the web in the use for real people, not the big companies use (which I do not wish).. How can a person create a personal homepage if a company holds the patent for example HTML? Regards, Henrik Jönsson, Sweden
