I live in the United States and I just found about this RAND licensing proposal Saturday. In my opinion, this proposal is a way for the big corporations to make more money and to eliminate small businesses. Microsoft, for example, has bought many ISPs over the past several years and have converted the accounts to where users MUST use Windows and their software. I know because this happened to me. I have gone back to using Linux for professional and business for that reason. My proposal would be to leave the RF as the standard; however, for companies, Microsoft etc, that are closed source and have patented their technologies, they can have a RAND license. Leave open-source alone and specifiy that in the policy.
