I can see a W3C working to create a standard for web organizations, to keep everything working in unison and avoid conflicts with different platforms. And even though this is not as efficient as everyone wishes I commend your effort. But to bless free bearing patents as the official web standard. No Lets give all patent owners and large businesses the ability to exploit the web as they see fit. Because that's exactly what you will be doing. Your going to enforce laws on the cyber community? That everyone should pay royalties for it's use or the use of certain files (i.e. gif )? The last time I checked the internet wasn't the sole domain of business. Or for that matter the sole domain of one organization, or one country. It's one thing for you to work for platform independence on the internet, but for you to try and dictate rules and laws upon its users. To in effect create a standard that will stifle the growth of the web, instead of help it's growth? Get a life. Your just looking to create revenue. In a recent poll conducted concerning "RAND" and W3C 78% of people think your doing more harm than good. And who are we? I'll tell you who we are, we are the internet. Don't be so foolish. I don't support any part of this "RAND Proposal" which would give royalty-bearing proprietary technologies free rain, by making them web standards. This is or would be a major commercialisation of Web Technologies and the internet in general. I thought one of the main purposes of the W3C was to keep proprietary or technology with proprietary patents out of the W3C or find a royalty free alternative. Why would you give patent owners the right to exploit their technologies commercially by making them the web standard? I DO NOT SUPPORT THIS.
