Please, no more patent

Sir,

I just want to remind you that the nest strength of the Internet in general,
and the Web in particular, is the openess of its standards. Anyone is free
to use them, to build something on them. Without this openess, fee-less
approach, it's doubtfull that the Apache Web Server (used on about 60% of
web servers) or the Sendmail mail delivering software would have appeared
and so widely used. It's because standards are free and open, it's because
these softwares (and many others) are free and open, that the internet has
grown so fast and so far.

Ask for a fee for the use of standards : for sure, a very tiny number of 
people will get a lot of money. But only a few wealthy people or corporations
will use them : the Net will then become closed, targetted to some elite.
The poorer, the ones who might *need* the Net to grow and reach some 
well-being, won't be able to use it just because of a fee.

Ask for a fee for standards, and for sure the internet as we know it will be
destroyed - and its freedom with it.
