Whilst your proposals may enjoy the support of the majority of the interested money in the world, they will be rejected by the majority of the interested brain-power - the people who have actually build the web and make it the dynamic and exciting place it has become. For them the W3C would become just another immoral corporate mouthpiece and they will be forced to use their brain power elsewhere. This may be good for big business, but it would not be good for the web. Don't even consider it. -- Phil Driscoll
