I think your sed is weird - could be the "." in the "5.1" that it barfs
about. Try and rename the directory "w3c-libwww-5.1m" to libwww and try to
rerun configure.

PS: You may also want to get the code directly from CVS as there are many
bug fixes and new features not available in 5.1m. The instructions are at

	http://www.w3.org/Library/cvs.html
