Use of dc:lang in XHTML / HTML

Does anyone have any experience of dc:lang language declarations being used by any application that reads XHTML/HTML documents?

I'm wondering whether we should recommend its use.  I'd rather not add to the confusion over meta tags, however, if nobody actually uses such information.
