Could you quote a reference for this.  I've never done an academic study
of the subject, but I've never seen this being cited as fundamental before,
and most of the hypertext systems I've seen (Windows Help, Adobe Acrobat,
etc., don't support it).  It makes we wonder if you are confusing someone's
opinion with the general consensus.
