about off-topic questions

Lately, there has been a flood of off-topic questions.  

This list is for discussions pertaining to the HTML spec only, it's not a
how-to list!

I understand that it's hard, if not impossible, to keep people from posting
off-topic questions, but, please, please, please don't encourage such posts
with your replies.  If you feel like answering an off-topic question, do so
privately.  It would also help if in your _private_ reply you'd explain why
this list is not a proper place for the question and refer them to a more
appropriate resource.
