log-out or time-out with HTTP Basic/Digest authentication

Hello.  Can you force a log-out or a time-out with HTTP Basic/Digest
authentication? I was thinking of something that will clear the
REMOTE_USER cgi environment variable.  Does any one have an idea of how
to do this? I am trying to implement this kind of authentication for my
site.
