Mathematically-induced obliqueness is ugly to be sure, but that is not the
same as true italics. If your default font does not have a true italic
version associated with it, you might want to assign a font which does. Or
if it turns out you don't have one on your system, perhaps it's time to
purchase a new font... ;)
