For whatever it's worth, IBM's xml4j 1.1.14 noted the following problem
in the DTD

D:\XML\BIBLE\28>java samples.XJParse.XJParse -d 28-1.xml
voyager/xhtml1-transitional.dtd: 333, 50: Warning: attribute "xml:space"
is recommended to be declared as "xml:space (default|preserve)
#IMPLIED".

This was repeated several times.

Also, I much preferred the old, modular style rather than the
newmonlithic DTDs.
