XForms processors performance - acceptable or not?

The more I work with XForms in X-Smiles and the Novell XForms Preview the
more noticeable the very slow processing is.

X-Smiles and Novell XForms Preview seem to have roughly corresponding
rendering times when tested on my own code stored locally. The range of times

given by the X-Smiles status line is around 14 seconds to 40 seconds!! In my
book that is slow!!

Yes, I know that beta code has lots of debugging code in it and is therefore
slower. But are others who are working with these XForms processors getting
correspondingly slow performance?

The documents with XForms that I am working with are certainly not long so I
would discount that as being the cause of the long rendering times.

Any thoughts? Suggestions?
