9.3.1 - "contiguous child element nodes"

I think some clarification is needed of the above term.

In the example code the input element is followed by a html:br element. Is 
the second element represented by the "contiguous" html:br child element 
node?

I assume that that is not the meaning intended and that it refers to 
input[1], input[2], input[3] and so on. But clarification would be helpful.
