RE: New charter of DI group

Generator Microsoft Word 11 (filtered medium) Hello Jose,

Actually, we are chartered for another month or so and are going to extend for a further three months to allow us to complete our new charter.

We anticipate forming a follow on group to DIWG which will have a slightly different scope, but still very much in line with the work we have been doing and fitting into the overall vision of the Ubiquitous Web.

In response to your specific questions:

- We certainly do expect to continue work on Layout.
- We are likely to recast the work on semantic enrichment into a form that allows us to go further along the path of more semantically rich markup languages which can capture more aspects of a web application than is currently the case.
- We think that the metadata work we envisaged is now adequately covered by new features in XHTML Version 2 and work on specific vocabularies being carried out within the Web Accessibility Initiative.

As a member of the W3C you have access to the proceedings of DIWG meetings. In particular, our last face to face meeting covered our planned charter in more detail. You might be interested in the presentation I gave, at that meeting, covering the current state of DIWG work items and how we propose to deal with them in the new charter.

The Agenda for the meeting is at http://www.w3.org/2001/di/Group/F2F/F2F-Agenda-2006-09.html

The presentation is at http://www.w3.org/2001/di/Group/Charter2006/DIWGCharter.html

These materials are all internal to W3C members at present. This is simply because the process has not completed, and so the actual charter is not agreed by W3C yet. We expect to have completed re-chartering by the mini-plenary meeting in January in Boston.

If you would like to discuss any of the details, please feel free to do so. However, as the details are internal to W3C at present, please use the DIWG group mailing list at w3c-di-wg@w3.org. Again, as you are a W3C member, you should be able to post to this list.

Best wishes

Rhys

Dear all, I'm reviewing your charter and I'm seeing that the charter has finished in August 2006. Do you have any plans of rechartering? In affirmative case, I have seen that the current charter talks about different work items that perhaps haven't been developed so far:
3.4.3 Work Item: Layout for Device Independence Version 1.0 3.4.5 Work item: Semantic Enrichment for Device Independence 3.4.6 Work item: Metadata for Content Adaptation Version 1.0
Do you have any plans of rechartering that include this kind of work items? Thanks and Best Regards
