search problems

Regretably, I'm having my old problem with the search functionality,
again. (Running Amaya 9.3 on WinXP Pro SP-2).

Working in the normal, rendered view, I have selected a number of items in
an ordered list. I set up the search to find within the selection all
instances of ": " and replace that with " - ". I request an "automatic
replace". I get back "not found", over and over.

Next I escape from the selected text, place the cursor BEFORE the area I'd
previously selected, and request a search and replace-on-request "after
selection". Amaya insists on skipping the area of interest - the list I
had previously selected most of, and finds the next ": " AFTER the list.
This is useless to me.

I've studied the documentation. It describes what I expected to happen.
I'm getting something else.

Any ideas, anyone?
