Amaya 9.2.2 is much improved over the previous 9.x versions I had experimented with in that it does actually show the entire editing pane without spurious artefacts. One usability problem remains due to the manner in which text is actually painted onto the canvas; that when the mouse is used to indicate a text insertion point or a selection range, the cursor or range are only weakly correlated with the position on screen of the mouse pointer. Fortunately, in this release, cursor key navigation functions (and functions correctly), so this can be worked around. I am working with a stylesheet that sets an explicit font and scales the text.
