amaya crashed after authentication retry

Using Amaya 2.4, i.e.
	http://www.w3.org/Amaya/Distribution/amaya-Windows95-2.4.exe

These are the steps (I think) between starting Amaya and the crash:

1. Start amaya, which loads my home page from local disk,
        with www.w3.org proxied to jigedit.w3.org
2. follow a link to my team page http://www.w3.org/Team/connolly.html
        -- auth challenge dialog comes up; I enter username, passwd
        -- all is well
3. change my jigedit.w3.org password using another web browser
4. try to follow a link to http://www.w3.org/Team/
        -- "cannot load" message at the bottom of the window. I lose.
5. go back (to my home page on local disk)
6. follow the link to my team page again
        -- "auth failed; retry?" dialog appears; I confirm
        -- fill in new username, passwd; confirm
7. CRASH!
